Latent Compass

A small software studio working on unglamorous problems in online retail.

We build narrow tools that do one job well. Right now we are not selling anything — we are trying to understand a problem properly before writing any code.

What we're looking into

How online stores decide what to reorder, and when. Most shops outgrow the built-in tools quickly: a single low-stock threshold across a whole catalogue stops being useful somewhere past a few dozen products, and the decision quietly falls back to spreadsheets, memory, and guesswork.

We want to know what that actually looks like day to day — who makes the call, what data they wish they had in front of them, and what it costs when the call is wrong in either direction.

Did we email you?

Then you probably left a review about an inventory app, and we are trying to learn from people who have felt the problem firsthand.

To be clear about what that email was and wasn't:

  • We have no product to sell you. There may never be one.
  • We are not collecting your data, and you are not on a mailing list.
  • One follow-up at most. Reply “no thanks” and we will not write again.

If a few questions about your restocking process sounds fine, we would genuinely value it. If not, ignoring the email is a completely reasonable response.
